The Local Highway Technical Assistance Council received funding to provide a demonstration workshop on Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil-Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) bridge construction in southern Idaho. The workshop includes a morning of class instructing using FHWA experts and an afternoon onsite observation of the construction.
GRS-IBS is an innovation to help reduce bridge construction time and cost. GRS-IBS projects ban be built in weeks instead of months, due to the ease of construction and use of readily available materials and equipment. Reduced construction schedule translates into less exposure around work zones improving safety. Idaho had adopted GRS-IBS as a focus for the state.
Cost of attending this workshop will be funded through the grant. The focus audience for this workshop is roadway supervisors, foreman, and employees with a limit of two (2) attendees per agency.
Attendees MUST bring safety shoes, hard hat, and safety vest for the tour.
